Qualification Description

The BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management is a nationally recognised qualification that reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills, and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing, and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements. They may plan, design, apply, and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse, and synthesise information from a variety of sources.

Units of Competency

The BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management consists of 6 core units and 6 elective units.

Core Units:

  • BSBCRT511 Develop critical thinking in others
  • BSBLDR523 Lead and manage effective workplace relationships
  • BSBOPS502 Manage business operational plans
  • BSBPEF502 Develop and use emotional intelligence
  • BSBTWK502 Manage team effectiveness

 

Elective Units: Elective units can be selected based on the specific needs of the learner and the organisation. They should be relevant to the work environment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome. ​

Award Upon Completion

Students obtaining a competent result for all units of competency will achieve the nationally recognized award: BSB50120 Diploma of Business.

Previous Recognition’s

We offer Credit Transfer (CT) to students who can provide evidential documentation pertaining to completion of the unit(s) of competency through prior formal study. Candidates with prior experience can be assessed based on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

No charge applies for Credit Transfer (CT).

Fees apply when assessing unit(s) of competency based on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Enrollment Pre-Requisites
Successful completion of Australian Year 12 or Australian equivalent is mandatory. Relevant work experience will be taken into consideration for Recognition of Prior Learning assessments towards any unit(s) of competency.

Training Package Requirements

There are no Training Package entry requirements for this qualification.

Licensing Requirements

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification.

Recommended Entry Pathway

It is recommended that students planning to enroll in BSB50215 Diploma of Business hold a Certificate IV in Business or relevant qualification, or have gained experience in a range of work environments in support roles.

However, students without the aforementioned qualifications and/or work experience are also eligible to enroll.

 

Course Details

Course Duration: 12 months full-time study, or equivalent part-time study.

Study Commitment: 20 Hours/Week. This includes attendance/participation and directed study. You will also need additional hours of self-directed study.

Assessment Types: All vocational courses are assessed through a combination of assessment types that may include examinations, essays, reports, group tasks, portfolios and/or presentations.

Attendance: An individual training plan will be provided when you enrol in this course. Your plan will outline the recommended study timetable and detail your units and assessments.

Delivery & Assessment
SCBM offers blended learning with a combination of face-to-face and online delivery method of the BSB50120 Diploma of Business. Face to face learning is conducted at our Sydney Campus.

Electronic copies of all relevant course materials and assessments required for the completion of BSB50120 Diploma of Business will be provided by SCBM to enrolled students. The primary method of submission for completed assessments will be via email.

 

Course Outcomes

Further Study

Completion of BSB50120 Diploma of Business creates a pathway towards a Bachelor of Business. Graduates of the diploma are eligible to apply for enrollment into the bachelor program at eligible institutions and may receive advanced standing of up to 12 units.
